Heh...I can see the points made here, but me, I'm lovin' my Assassin armor. Both appearance and bonuses. Vanguard's (needle-covered stuff) chest and gloves, for the Blind and Weakness time cuts, and Shrouded pants and boots for the extra Energy. Excellent bonuses, extra defense against the increasingly popular Hammer Masteries, and just plain sexy XP.
*Waggles PvP 'Sin's almost-naked ass in thread, just to be contrary*

Well yes, I'm liking the female version of that armor (sexy indeed) but the male version is another story... ;p

It should be pointed out that actual ninjas rarely wore the black pajamas like the one in your icon. That's mostly Hollywood bullshit. They typicaly wore peasant clothing and were often disguised as gardeners and such so that they could work closely to their target. Real ninjas also rarely assassinated anyone. They were mostly used for spying. And, it should also be pointed out that Cantha isn't Asia. It's merely inspired by it. There's no reason at all that the Assassin class should look like some "ninjas" from some crappy 80's action movie.

There's a reason why crappy 80's ninja movies look like they do...
Actually, if you go to Mie Prefecture in Iga Province (home of the Tokugawa Shogunate's Iga ninja), Japan, you can visit the ninja museum there... Though true that active ninja wore regular pheasant or "Yamabushi Monk" clothing when among other people, they do also wear traditional ninja gear depending on the situation. You can find more info here on the Iga Ninja website: http://www.k3.dion.ne.jp/~ashura/
Supposedly, these guys are "descendants" of the infamous Iga Ninja Clan who were saved and recruited by Ieyasu Tokugawa and his General, Hattori Hanzo, who was also said to be a "ninja". Since their ways are no longer of use, they make a living in the entertainment business:
Iga Ueno info:

Do "real" assassins dress like they're going to a Bondage convention??? I highly doubt it.

These character designs from a Japanese game called SHINOBIDO: IMASHIME would've looked great if they were implemented in some way to GW:Factions... (maybe as Kurzick armor options)

dont hold your breath on the "traditional" ninja clothes. personally i rather like anet's rendition of the character, since the only time i see a ninja like character portrayed is when they are in the standard hollywood/anime clothing, its nice to see something kinda different every once in a while. oh, and the 15k armor to my knowledge or at least the ones that were present in the weekend event dont look like the ninja type you want to see (i found a picture of it somewhere, might have been on gwonline, it had a guy in girl in what looked like a more decrative nightstalker armor, i think one was kurzik and the other luxon, very nice imo). as a side note, how usefull do you guys/gals think the -20% to condition duration really is? because i like the male assassin i made during the event, but cant stand the way he looked while he was in the vanguard chest piece.

I believe these might be the pics you were talking about:
Luxon Female:
Kurzick Male:
Don't worry, I'm not holding my breath... I'm simply stating my dissatisfaction and making valid reasons for my request for more variety... (doesn't hurt to ask does it?) I can see some of you like the armor (we all have our tastes), I'm just wishing Anet also had a "plain vanilla" along with the different shades of " dark, mint, milk chocolate"...

Can we please not use that picture of the female 15K any more...~_~. This is Thread #2 the sucker's thrown all out of whack...
This aside, in answer to Validus' question: 20% of 15 seconds is 3.5 seconds, and 15 seconds is pretty standard for most Conditions. Instead of 15 seconds, you'd get 11.5 Is that cut worth the dorky appearance to ye? If not, use something else. Shrouded Armor is a good, fairly normal-looking alternative to Hellraiser Armor :-P
S H I N O B I et al.: Think of Assassins, not as normal ninjas, but as the freaky superhuman ninjas who come and try to kill you while you're stoned. Then it will all make sense XD.

The looks of the armor in this game, more often than not, is not this game's strong suit.

Haha, Deus, my apologies...
Those 15k assassin armor pics I linked were claimed to be owned by a dedicated Guildwars player known in GWguru as deus_invictus.
Do you get to keep that armor once Factions is released?

1: Assassins can't tank unless you purposefully build them for it, in which case you're wasting your time on excessive defense rather than using the excellant offense
2: Quit comparing Assassins to Warriors. If you're attacking a warrior first, then you're an idiot anyway.
Finally, the armour.
I was expecting Assassin armour to fill every cultural position possible. I wanted to see the current type of armour as well as the Ninja types, the middle-eastern types, and so on. I was dissapointed since they all look exactly the same, with the exception of Valkyries and the other one, but those both look too revealing to dress my male character in.

Ouch. Though currently somewhat dissappointed (I should've said this instead of dissatisfied), I think I will still buy Factions whether or not Anet implements the "ninja outfit" on assassins, mainly because It is still a great game; I probably just won't play it as enthusiastically as I would like.... (they'll still get my money ;p )
One another note, there are strong hints that Anet will indeed implement it. Examples can be seen from the starter armor, the names of some weapons (i.e. "Shinobi Blade" - sword), as well as npc characters like the very "ninja looking" ( - as in full hooded mask, baggy pajamas, and arm/leg bandages) assassin enemy npcs that attack your group on one of the luxon quests where you have to defend a destroyed boat... However, it is not a guarantee that they will, so here's hoping Anet comes through for us ninja fans, however few or abundant we may be (and I'm sure there's quite alot of us judging from the names people gave their assassins during the event)...

Back to ninja gaiden it is then xD
No im serious the only reason i would buy the expansion is for the new armors wich dont really excite me in the way they are now (cept superiority) again theres no point in playing the game cept for farming and skill caps.
Why would i do missions to get my 200st skillpoint i dont need at all, since its been said the new skills wont excite me since most are just doubles.
And im not planning to run around like some annorxic freak of nature dressed in tight clothes thats just disgusting. And for gods sake if the assasins are not ninja why is some of their moves actually using real ninja stances ( Ive trained with some students of ninjutsu i dont know the actual name but i believe when you do recal its a no-komai theres another word in front but i dont know wich one is the proper one), you might aswell remove that if they arent "ninja". Also starting out with a immidiate level 20 doesnt excite me at all it means there is only 2 things left for me armor and skills il just farm the armor by the time i got enough cash for that i have enough skillpoints to invest in skills so why bother doing the missions for worthless rewards, compare it with starting diablo 2 with a lvl 99 without armor vs hell difficulty creatures.

Umm...Ninjutsu? You do know that you start at lvl 1 in Factions, yes? The auto-lvl 20 was for the FPE only, since it was a beta test and Anet wanted us to get straight into the meat that needed testing. Otherwise Factions plays just like Prophecies did - start at lvl 1 in Noobville, Cantha and grind on up to lvl 20 through the story.

The Guild Wars people say that roughly 20% of the game content is designed for >lvl 20 characters, while 80% of the content is for lvl 20 characters. So even if it doesn't take long to level up, there's still a truckload of stuff to experience at your maximum power level, which is bloody awesome XP
